  • You may be scheduled for a brief consultation or a full intake appointment. During this time, we’ll discuss your goals, history, and any concerns you’d like to address. This is also an opportunity to ask questions, explore treatment options, and begin building a trusting connection.

  • Nuevas Raíces offers a client-centered and trauma-informed environment. Your care plan will be tailored to your unique needs and may include a combination of therapeutic approaches. Services are available in both English and Spanish.

  • We honor the importance of culture, identity, and lived experience. Our services are particularly mindful to the challenges faced by underserved populations, creating a space where all individuals feel safe and valued.

  • Healing is a journey, and we’ll walk alongside you each step of the way. Frequency of sessions will depend on the service. For evaluations it will be about two sessions whereas psychotherapy appointments will be held weekly or biweekly, depending on your needs and preferences. Immigration Evaluations

We specialize in clinical evaluations that support individuals and families in the immigration process. Our approach is trauma-informed, culturally aware, and focused on helping you tell your story with dignity and clarity. Types of evaluations include but are not limited to:

  • Clinical evaluation to determine the emotional, psychological, and relational impact of potential family separation.

  • Evaluation for survivors of domestic violence seeking immigration relief.

  • For individuals who have been victims of qualifying crimes and cooperated with law enforcement.

  • For survivors of human trafficking seeking protection and legal status.

  • Psychological evaluations that document trauma related to persecution, violence, or fear of returning to one’s home country.

  • For immigrant children who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned by one or both parents. The evaluation documents the impact and need for permanent residence in the U.S.

FAQs *

  • A psychosocial or mental health evaluation is a clinical report written by a licensed mental health professional to support your immigration case. It includes interviews, screening tools, and a narrative of how your mental, emotional, and relational well-being has been impacted by your immigration experience.

An evaluation can strengthen your case by giving your story professional credibility, emotional depth, and legal clarity. Judges and attorneys often rely on these evaluations to better understand the real-life effects of hardship, trauma, or separation.

If you're applying for a hardship waiver, asylum, VAWA, U-Visa, or T-Visa, this may be a key part of your process.

    • Extreme Hardship Waivers (I-601, I-601A, I-212, I-192)

  • Diana Rodas, LCSW - the evaluator, is fully bilingual and provides immigration evaluations in both English and Spanish.

For all other languages, a professional interpreter is required to ensure accuracy, neutrality, and the integrity of your evaluation. Family members or friends may not serve as interpreters, as this may compromise the quality and credibility of your report.

If you need interpretation in another language or dialect, please let us know in advance—we will arrange a professional interpreter at no additional cost to you.

You may request an interpreter by using the contact form on this website. Please be sure to include the specific language or dialect needed for your appointment.

  • Only what you feel comfortable sharing. You are in control of your story, and I create a respectful, trauma-informed space where you are never pressured.

  • Nuevas Raíces Counseling Services and the Evaluator are not responsible for the outcome of any legal proceedings for which the immigration evaluation is submitted. While every effort is made to document the petitioner’s experiences as accurately and respectfully as possible, the Evaluator is not liable for any differences between the content of the evaluation and the petitioner’s testimony, statement, affidavit, or other communications.
